Guided House Tours

Twice a day, Carrick Hill’s friendly and knowledgeable volunteer guides take visitors through the house, sharing the history of the Haywards and their home, as well as the artworks and furnishings.

On the tour, you’ll discover paintings from the collection by Dobell, Gaugin and Sickert. There are sculptures by Jacob Epstein of Albert Einstein, Bernard Shaw and Sir Winston Churchill. You’ll explore the unique decor styled around English country living, including exquisite William Morris furnishings.

Public guided house tours are at 11.30am & 2.30pm daily.

Guided Garden Tours

Designed by Ursula Hayward, and modelled on the English country park, Carrick Hill's arts and craft style garden was once an elegant setting for social events and tennis parties.

Discover the history and development of the Carrick Hill formal gardens with our newly trained Garden Guides. The one hour tour is held on Wednesday's and Saturday's, leaving from the stone bridge on the main pathway to the house.

Bookings are essential and group size is limited.

Garden tours are not currently recommended for visitors with limited mobility, wheelchairs or prams, due to the use of stairs and uneven ground. We are working on an accessible option for future visitors.

In the case of extreme weather or temperatures forecast to be 36 degrees or over (at 2pm the day prior) the tour will not proceed. Carrick Hill will attempt to make contact to reschedule or arrange a full refund.
