Margaret Heathcote is a retired architect and heritage consultant. Her many years in heritage work and travels have shown that an understanding of how and why a place came to be is crucial in deciding what and how it should be managed.
Style, fashion and patronage play a big part in architecture and heritage conservation, from cottages to castles.
